Ellis and Albacete receive Pitcher of the Month award
It's the 3rd time that the American League Pitcher 
of the Month award goes to Oakland's pitcher <a href=p759.html>Gerald 
Ellis</a>. His record of 6-0 in 8 was among the leagues 
best this month. In 64.2 innings of work he allowed 
just 42 hits while striking out 54, compiling an ERA 
of just 1.67. Gerald pitched a shutout as well. Opposing 
players hit .259 against Gerald this season. While 
posting an ERA of 3.17 he went 14-5 in 28 starts, fanning 
167 and walking 40 hitters. He has 6 complete games 
and 3 shutouts. He's 6th in the American League in 
ERA and 6th in wins! Chicago (N)'s <a href=p105.html>Gaspar 
Albacete</a> had a terrific July, and it earned him 
the National League Pitcher of the month award. His 
ERA of just 2.62 helped him to a 4-0 record in July. 
He worked 34.1 innings, striking out 27 hitters while 
walking 10. Opposing players hit .235 against Gaspar 
this season. While posting an ERA of 3.28 he went 11-5 
in 26 starts, fanning 95 and walking 23 hitters.
